Agencies
Andrea provides specialized consultation services for the assessment and treatment of problem
behaviors, ensuring compliance with O.Reg. 299/10, Quality Assurance Measures. With
extensive experience in behavioral support, she collaborates with community agencies to address
the challenges faced by individuals in residential and day program settings.
Her approach begins with in-depth assessments to determine the root causes of behavioral
concerns. Based on these insights, she develops and implements customized Behaviour Support
Plans, ensuring interventions are precisely tailored to meet each individual’s unique needs.
Andrea also designs skill-building protocols and evaluates behavioral interventions to optimize
effectiveness while fostering independence and growth.
Additionally, Andrea oversees the monitoring of PRN protocols and physical interventions,
ensuring strict adherence to the standards set by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social
Services. Community agencies supporting individuals with multiple exceptionalities can access
comprehensive consultation services, including behavioral assessments, treatment planning, staff
training, and direct support for those in need.
Common behavioral challenges addressed within residential and day program settings include
aggression, self-injury (SIB), elopement, obsessive behaviors that escalate situations, and other
actions that disrupt daily functioning and community participation. Through evidence-based
strategies and individualized support, Andrea empowers agencies and caregivers to create
structured environments that enhance the well-being of those they serve.
Case Study 1: PRN Use
The first case is a 54 year old individual with diagnoses of Moderate Developmental Disability and Schizophrenia who required a PRN medication. A Behaviour Support Plan was put in place to address the attention and escape reasons for the problem behaviours and in 2025, the BSP and PRN were discontinued.
Case Study 2: Behaviour Support Plan for Aggression
The second case highlights aggression exhibited by a 40-year-old individual with the diagnoses of Moderate Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Hepatitis B carrier. A hepatitis B carrier is someone who has the hepatitis B virus (HBV) in their body but may not show symptoms. These individuals can still transmit the virus to others through blood and bodily fluid which is why it was very important to address the aggression that also included biting others.
